The calendar originated in Lichtholm to track when to plant and harvest crops. The Republic later improved on it when they started building telescopes for the Dwarf lookouts to spot dragons. The Republic realized that the moons would cycle every 91 and 14 days. The republic created an adjusted calendar with 4 Months that align with the seasons and 14 day weeks. Over time most people agreed upon the 4 91 day cycles but did not want to move away from the seven day week. This disagreement on the calendar is another reason why Lichtholm and The Republic fight.

The moons also create a phenomena where the new moons align on the 55th of Lenzin and Aran; and the 48th day of Litha and Wintar.

The calendar that was settled on in year 731 created a state where there are identical years every year with a perfect division of time, some believe that the Gods set the moons in motion to help track time.
