The Republic military functions as the Police, Military and Judicial services of The Republic.

The Republic Guard is a volunteer service but is in most cases a lifetime commitment. It is not exclusionary by race or gender but the individuals need to meet the same minimum requirements to serve. In almost all cases being attached to the local police for an area is required but other forms of learning basic combat and law prior to enlisting is acceptable.

The Republic's military is one of the best funded and equipped militaries on the mainland. The average Guardsman has around 10,000 GP in equipment on him if he is a member of a military family, otherwise its typically around 2000 GP. Guardsmen may receive an honorable discharge from the Republic Guard but are generally found a logistical or non combat role as they age. Senior enlisted men shift to police leadership and senior officers shift towards being the panel members of the military tribunal. They receive a wage based on rank to cover their personal time and hobbies, as well as additional pay during wartime and deployment. Military is commonly a family tradition and the combat equipment is usually a family heirloom. The Guard encourages at a certain point in a Guardsman’s career that he create a family and start training his children in the ways of combat at a young age to ensure future generations of well trained military. Young guardsmen are typically part of the military police and elderly guardsmen who are non commissioned officers tend to take over the duties of leadership within the policing organization. Commissioned officers are not legal authorities and the head of a regional police is likely to be a Sergeant Major.

The military police forces typically are split 50/50 between individuals that are born in a given area and those who are born outside of the jurisdiction. This is with the intent that the policing is done by those who are close to the locals but corruption is harder by having those who do not have local ties. The half of the policing force that is not local typically rotates after a year or two to another location.

The Republic Guard colors are Red, Black, and White. The dominant colors of the uniforms are the red and black with white being used as trim or as the background for the heraldry of specific families, regions or orders within the Guard.

Recruitment
Young volunteers join the police they are recruited into the military ranks as a guardsman and if they survive their career in the military, the rank of Ensign or higher will be summoned as judges of a military tribunal. The military tribunal has a panel of 3, 5, 7 judges depending on the severity of the crime.

Military Ranks
The Republic only has ~15% of its population having half or more elvish blood, but a large majority of the senior officers are made up off half elves and elves due to their exceptionally long lived nature. Elves in particular tend to rise through commissioned officer ranks due to hitting physical maturity around 20 years of age but having another 80 years before reaching adult mental maturity, this allows for decades of experience with the police forces as well as education. Many senior officers have hundreds of years on the job in role. The junior officers are disproportionately filled with half elves for similar reasons. Humans do excel into all levels of the military ranks by being the simple majority of the nation.

Officers
In addition to the following commissioned ranks, Warrant Officers Exist as either a Warrant Officer or a Chief Warrant Officer commanding similar authority to Ensigns and Lieutenants.
Military Families
Due to the family tradition around military service the relatively expensive gear a foot soldier carries is not a large concern, many households have their own alterations they make or may have better than the standard issued equipment but it must meet the regulator standards to be used. This ensures that all military commanders know the bare minimum they can expect from an individual Guardsman. Families tend to show their heraldry on their equipment and take great pride in the generations of service to the nation.

<br />

Strategy, Tactics, and Training
The martial weapon users are trained in the use of a bastard sword and shield, Longbow and Shortbow. They are trained in group formations and fight best when in groups of at least 5.

Arcane practitioners are as varied as their magic is unique to them, but they are grouped into two distinct roles, offensive and defensive magic.

Clerics of the gods work as chaplains in the military and form the backbone of healing and medical.<br />

Training and Recruitment
Prospect guardsmen are given the rank of recruit and sent to serve with a police force as part of their 50% non local forces. During this time they are expected squire to junior enlisted men or officers depending on the carrier path they are qualified for. After an undermined time but no more than 2 years of squiring they are offered a formal contract for the rank of recruit and then sent to basic training. Upon completion of basic training they will then further their training for the specific assignment such as an enlisted men learning how to navigate by stars in the case that the ships navigation systems fail and an arcanist cannot provide a good bearing. Upon completion of the job specific training. Contracts are for a minimum of 4 years of service post job school training with the typical minimal time coming in around 5 years of contract time and 1 year of prep.

The republic also has an auxiliary force under a single regiment that has one or more brigades of non citizens lead by citizen officers. As service grantees citizenship in the republic after 10 years of service in the auxiliary individuals can request transfer to a non auxiliary unit as well as petition for citizenship at that time. Auxiliary members without citizenship cannot achieve a rank higher than sergeant or First Lieutenant, intentionally to limit the influence of non citizens until they have served long enough to achieve citizenship.<br />

Unit Organization
Squad
5-10 guardsmen with 80% being martial users and 20% being arcane. The squad is led by Sergeant, and 10 men squads will have a staff Sergeant in addition to the Sergeant. If the squad is only 5 men then the arcane user will more likely be defensive magic, if its the full 10 then you will have 2 arcane casters one for offense one for defense.

The typical squad will put 2-3 ranged users in cover and have the heavily armored martial weapon users work in pairs of "Battle Buddies"

Platoon
Platoons are made of 20-60 men lead by a single Lieutenant and larger platoons are lead by First Lieutenant. typically two 10 man squads and two 5 man squads. The 5 man squads contain your "special weapons" units such as lightly armored units, healers, and other specialty functions that do not exist at the typical squad level but are reserved for platoon level capabilities.

Company
Companies are made of 80-200 men led by a captain, larger companies may be lead by a Major with multiple captains. Siege equipment and other battlements are assigned at the company level.

Battalion
400-1000 men, led by Colonel supported with multiple lieutenant colonel. If they are the marine attachment to a warship they tend to be closer to 400 men, if they are a land based battalion its more typical to see 800-1000.

Brigade
3000-5000 Men, led by a brigadier general

Regiment
10k-15k Men, led by a major general

Division
20k-40k Men, led by a general or lieutenant general

Naval Ship Organization
Republic Guard ships are typically made from wood with significant magical enchantments placed upon them to make them as strong as solid steel. Soul crystals are used as a power source for magical shields and as a focus for defensive arcanists on board. Ships are either powered by wind, soul crystals, or dwarven mana batteries. Cannon sizes are extremely variable based on the class of ship and the preference of the captain. Plain lead or iron projectiles are relatively rare as they typically cannot breach most other vessels protective shielding. A concert of enchanted projectiles imbue with arcane energy are the preference, especially those with ice or fire enchantments as the heat can cook enemy combatants on the deck or the ice can inhibit maneuverability as it builds up over a battle. Once a ships shields are dispelled lead balls as well as fragmentation shells are used to hit hard at those below deck, survivability of any one above deck is relatively low once this occurs because arcanist marines rain fireballs down upon enemy decks quickly obliterating every one exposed.

Single Vessel
Captain as the commanding officer

Commander as the executive officer and second in command

One or more lieutenant running specific operations of the ship based on its duties

Marine officer of appropriate rank for the size of detachment aboard the vessel, if the detachment does not come with a Major ranked officer or higher a lieutenant commander reporting to the commander is in charge of the marine detachment. On a large vessel with a large detachment a colonel sharing the same level of command as the ships captain still has to defer to the ships captain while at sea.

lieutenants will fill in the roles for Gunners, Navigation, Surgeon, Quartermaster, and Engineering with ensigns supporting the lieutenants.

A warrant officer will fill the position of the bosun, carpenter, armorer, and any other specialty function on the ship.

Smaller vessels without a large marine detachment such as only keeping a single platoon of marines and having a crew of less than 200 including the marines may be commanded by a Lieutenant Commander.

Enlisted Men
#Sergeant Major
#Master Sergeant
#Gunnery Sergeant
#Staff Sergeant
#Corporal
#Lance Corporal
#Private First Class
#Private

All divisions of the military have a lower recruit rank where a formal contract has been agreed upon and they typically work with local police functions and are proving competency and knowledge of future responsibilities before being placed into a role with the navy, marines, or typical land army forces.<br />

Officers
In addition to the following commissioned ranks, Warrant Officers Exist as either a Warrant Officer or a Chief Warrant Officer commanding similar authority to Ensigns and Lieutenants.

Naval
#Lieutenant Colonel
#Major
#Captain
#First Lieutenant
#Second Lieutenant

Military Families
Due to the family tradition around military service the relatively expensive gear a foot soldier carries is not a large concern, many households have their own alterations they make or may have better than the standard issued equipment but it must meet the regulator standards to be used. This ensures that all military commanders know the bare minimum they can expect from an individual Guardsman. Families tend to show their heraldry on their equipment and take great pride in the generations of service to the nation.

<br />

Plain lead projectiles are relatively rare as they typically cannot breach most other vessels protective shielding.

Enlisted Men
Naval
#Master Chief Petty Officer
#Senior Chief Petty Officer
#Chief Petty Officer
#Seaman
#Seaman Apprentice
#Seaman Recruit

Land and Air
#Sergeant Major
#Master Sergeant
#Gunnery Sergeant
#Staff Sergeant
#Sergeant

Naval
#Fleet Admiral (Only One position held at a time)
#Lieutenant Commander
#Lieutenant
#General
#Lieutenant General
#Major General
#Brigadier General
#Colonel
#Lieutenant Colonel
#Major
#Captain
#First Lieutenant
#Second Lieutenant

Military Families
Due to the family tradition around military service the relatively expensive gear a foot soldier carries is not a large concern, many households have their own alterations they make or may have better than the standard issued equipment but it must meet the regulator standards to be used. This ensures that all military commanders know the bare minimum they can expect from an individual Guardsman. Families tend to show their heraldry on their equipment and take great pride in the generations of service to the nation.

<br />

Clerics of the gods work as chaplains in the military and form the backbone of healing and medical.

<br />

Auxiliary members without citizenship cannot achieve a rank higher than sergeant or First Lieutenant, intentionally to limit the influence of non citizens until they have served long enough to achieve citizenship.

<br />

Government
Positions
Position (Term Limit)

#Grand Chancellor of the Republic (Life Term)
#Grand Chancellor (10 Years Consecutive)
#Chancellor (10 Years Consecutive)
#Representative (5 Years Consecutive)
#Mayor of “Name of City State” (5 Years )
#Speaker of “Name of District” (3 Years )
#Mayor/Director (2 Years )
#Councilman (1 Yrs)

The republic is subdivided into Federations made up of Stadts that contain Districts and City States Districts are divided into cities and townships.

The Grand Chancellor's rulings affect the entire republic.

The title of Grand Chancellor of the republic is a special seat that can appoint republic wide positions as well as tie break any grand chancellor vote that is hung. He has the power to pardon any one before they are tried by military tribunal but only before the trial has begun.

Chancellors represent a single federation or group of Stadts that are in a contiguous group.

Representatives represent their Stadt or a grouping of City States and Districts.

Speakers of District represent their district

Mayors are leaders of cities in a district and Directors are leaders of a township in a district.

Councilmen are the leaders of a local community in a city or township.

The Mayors of city states are elected in different ways and have similar powers to that of the Grand Chancellor of the Republic within their given city state but have an election cycle of 5 years.

All positions are voted on by the individuals that hold power 1 level lower in the Republic. Citizens elect council members council members elect the Mayors, Mayors elect Speakers, Mayors of City states and Speakers elect representatives, representatives elect Chancellors and chancellors elect Grand Chancellors.

At the time of the death of a “Grand Chancellor of the Republic” all chancellors and Grand Chancellors elect the next “Grand Chancellor of the Republic”

The election process and government styles within city states may differ from the rest of the republic but are federally represented and ruled in the same way, federal laws tend to be loosely applied in those areas as well.

Laws
New laws are brought to a given level of government where the people would like to see change with a large tax that scales with the area that wants to have the legal change applied to it.

*Whole Republic	5,000,000 GP
*Stadt 1,000,000 GP
*District 500,000 GP
*City 250,000 GP

This money ends up in that level of government's treasury and is used to run that level of government's responsibility in that area. For example at a city level pay the police at a Stadt level pay for the military.

It is a common but more expensive tactic to pass laws in multiple lower levels instead of the single higher level because it is easier to get the same law put through with a smaller group that have less angry constituents that may hire someone to assassinate them.

Laws may be passed to levy taxes on a regular schedule but are generally rare and temporary in the republic as private enterprise runs most services available. If you have the coin you can get whatever you want in the republic.

<br />

Culture
Cartels and Corrupt government officials are a common problem in the republic but once their infractions have been proven publicly the military tribunals are swift and merciless. Bribery is not illegal in all of the Stadts and in some of them it is commonplace and culturally acceptable to do. The use of a "bribe" is generally seen as paying an official for a good or a service and not as an act of corruption.

Those who are born into The Republic are generally raised with a strong sense of pride and nationalism. Family history and accomplishment is important, this causes most citizens to be industrious and work towards more honorable or nobler goals.
<br />

Relations with others
Lichtholm
Citizens have at minimally apathy towards Lichtholm but most have a level of animosity or hate. Citizens are accepting of indentured servitude and a standard 5 year contract is a normal, to the contrary to Lichtholms common propensity of slavery creates a huge rift and divide. Another facet is citizens of The Republic believe that their society is closer to a meritocracy and is more efficient, fair and free, in contrast to the Monarchy in Lichtholm.
<br />

Kaldhaug
The Republic has a long standing history of commerce with the dwarves of Kaldhaug. They are the closest to an ally as the two nations have always come to the aid of each other, even though no formal treaties have ever been established. The Republic has the highest population of Dwarves outside of Kaldhaug as an effect of the long relationship.
<br />
Military (The Republic Guard)
*The Republic Guard Is the regular military force for The Republic.
*The Black Hand is the black ops and intelligence community for The Republic.

Republic Services

#Lance Corporal

All divisions of the military have a lower recruit rank where a formal contract has been agreed upon and they typically work with local police functions and are proving competency and knowledge of future responsibilities before being placed into a role with the navy, marines, or typical land army forces.<br />

Officers
In addition to the following commissioned ranks, Warrant Officers Exist as either a Warrant Officer or a Chief Warrant Officer commanding similar authority to Ensigns and Lieutenants.

<br />

Clerics of the gods work as chaplains in the military and form the backbone of healing and medical.

<br />

Battalion
400-1000 men, led by Colonel supported with multiple lieutenant colonel. If they are the marine attachment to a warship they tend to be closer to 400 men, if they are a land based battalion its more typical to see 800-1000.

The Republic military functions as the Police, Military and Judicial services of The Republic.

The Republic Guarde is a volunteer service but is in most cases a lifetime commitment.

Guardsmen may receive an honorable discharge from the Republic Guarde but are generally found a logistical or non combat role as they age. The Guarde encourages at a certain point in a Guardsman’s career that he create a family and start training his children in the ways of combat at a young age to ensure future generations of well trained military.

The Republic Guarde colors are Red, Black, and White. The dominant colors of the uniforms are the red and black with white being used as trim or as the background for the heraldry of specific families, regions or orders within the Guarde.

The Republic military functions as the Police, Military and Judicial services of The Republic.

The Republic Guarde is a volunteer service but is in most cases a lifetime commitment.

Guardsmen may receive an honorable discharge from the Republic Guarde but are generally found a logistical or non combat role as they age. The Guarde encourages at a certain point in a Guardsman’s career that he create a family and start training his children in the ways of combat at a young age to ensure future generations of well trained military.

The Republic Guarde colors are Red, Black, and White. The dominant colors of the uniforms are the red and black with white being used as trim or as the background for the heraldry of specific families, regions or orders within the Guarde.

<br />

Clerics of the gods work as chaplains in the military and form the backbone of healing and medical.
Unit Organization

Battalion
400-1000 men, led by Colonel supported with multiple lieutenant colonel. If they are the marine attachment to a warship they tend to be closer to 400 men, if they are a land based battalion its more typical to see 800-1000.
The Republic Guarde is a volunteer service but is in most cases a lifetime commitment.

They are trained in the use of a bastard sword and shield, Longbow and Shortbow. They are trained in group formations and fight best when in groups of at least 5. Guardsmen may receive an honorable discharge from the Republic Guarde but are generally found a logistical or non combat role as they age. The Guarde encourages at a certain point in a Guardsman’s career that he create a family and start training his children in the ways of combat at a young age to ensure future generations of well trained military.

The Republic Guarde colors are Red, Black, and White. The dominant colors of the uniforms are the red and black with white being used as trim or as the background for the heraldry of specific families, regions or orders within the Guarde.

The standard calendar year is 364 days with four 91 day months divided into thirteen 7 day weeks.

The calendar originated in Lichtholm to track when to plant and harvest crops. The original Lictholm calendar was based on 12 28 day months, based on moon phases and then after a few years and seasonal drift a 13th month was added, but not in perfect phase with the moons. The equivalent concept of a week was 7 days on the original calendar as watching Furi the use of full and new moons allowed common folk to organize on dates. The Republic later improved on it when they started building telescopes for the Dwarf lookouts to spot dragons. Scholars from The Republic realized that the moons would cycle every 91 and 14 days. The republic created an adjusted calendar with four Months that align with the seasons and 14 day weeks. Over time most people agreed upon the four 91 day cycles but did not want to move away from the seven day week. This disagreement on the calendar is another reason why Lichtholm and The Republic fight, independently these nations came to similar conclusions at similar times.

The moons also create a phenomena where the full moons align on the 55th of Lenzin and Aran; and the 48th day of Litha and Wintar. New Moons show on the 6th and 7th of Lenzin and Aran.

The calendar that was settled on in year 731 created a state where there are identical years every year with a perfect division of time, some believe that the Gods set the moons in motion to help track time.
The republic shares a border with the dwarves elves and gnomes on one side and the other human civilizations on the other creating a barrier between them and the constant warring of orcs and goblins.

Government

<br />

<br />

<br />

<br />
Military (The Republic Guarde)
*The Republic Guarde Is the regular military force for The Republic.
*The Black Hand is the black ops and intelligence community for The Republic.

Republic Services
*Post Office
*Centralized Banking
*Military

Letters for post are folded this way and sealed with a wax signet.

She is a god who seeks only to build her own power. Her followers are tricked into blind faith by her demigods who walk the material plane corrupting the minds of the impressionable. Her following is usually kept hidden from public as following her in most societies is a death sentence. She promotes hedonism and that the ends do justify the means. Her devout followers show up rapidly and collapse under their self focused agendas.

Known Demigods
Her demigods on the material plane are referred to as "False Profits" as they promise lies to her followers. They trick people into devotion only to end up with a short high and premature death.

*Nathanial Bronze
*Singd Terras
*Abbator Klanton

Her demigods seek out the disenfranchised and sow chaos into societies. They find those who have fallen through he cracks of a society and sow dissidence and hate for the establishment. They create a narritive of the opressive society and how only Gommunora can free them.

Take Over
Once a critical mass of following has been built up in a society Gommunora shows up and facilitates the take over of a society by her followers. Her first targets are those who are lost or willing to self indulge in pleasures. Once her foothold grows she begins killing almost all of the current government and governmental structures in an instant. The only ones who are spared are ones who where already devout followers as the time for conversion has passed. She will then destroy any government facility or agency that would have the capacity to restore the old government. After killing any one that could undo what she has come to do she installs new leadership stemming from her most devout followers. She also encourages the mass theft of all property and wealth from any one who is not a devout follower of hers. Her new government will raise generations of followers for her and eventually collapse over its focus on hedonism false realities. Since the sundering her power has waned as technology and documentation of her ill doings has spread. This suites her self focused agenda of gathering as many souls as possible by tempting those away from the other gods. Her demigods are constantly finding new targets and her collection of souls grow.

Resistance
The effect of Gommunora is a well documented one that most organized societies are aware of. Many countries have invested into ways of rooting out followers and killing them out of fear of Gommunora coming to visit. This has a mixed effect; if an area can kill all of her followers they are generally ok, but once her prophet show up they use this action as a proof of oppression. Gommunora in practice rarely visits and topples an entire country but the fear of it alone in some regions encourages her to target them. Because of this most other areas are free of her influence because she focuses on those who would resist her the most.

She starts off by killing almost all of the current government and governmental structures in an instant. Her new government will raise generations of followers for her and eventually collapse over its focus on hedonism false oppression. This suites her well as her demigods are constantly finding new targets and her collection of souls grow.

LargoUsagi:

Kek is a nihilistic Trickster God of Chaos who believes that absolute law in the world is stupid and futile and will mock or cause an ironic downfall of concrete systems

Kek is a powerful trickster god. Although arguably from his demonstrations one of the most powerful god he generally lacks interest in using his powers. Kek is also known by other names such as Lel, Jek, Lol and lul; having his name rooted in the sound of laughter.

When Kek visits the material plane he takes the form of a humanoid frog and carries a musical instrument. The instruments that his followers claim he carries are a lute and a flute.

It appears that out of all Gods Kek spends the most time in the material plane, this may just be due to him making his presence known. Any where he goes chaos is sure to follow as he uses his vast an infinite power to create exuberant practical jokes. These jokes are not cataclysmic in scale and from some perspectives they are tragedies. Usually not impacting the outcome of major events in history.

Kek finds huge joy in pulling pranks on Mallik or undoing his work. This usually involves the collapse of a society or destruction of some order with a requirement of irony.

He likes to set up the conditions for chaos and then step back and watch what happens.

Powers
Kek is a near omnipotent being but has been known to go completely invisible or ethereal at will.

Kek's followers claim that he has taken other humanoid forms to blend in with a society and spread his will. There has been definite recordings of kek walking the earth in the body of a humanoid frog.

Kek's power is so vast he can will the dead back to life even when they are followers of other gods.

Followers
Keks followers vary but they all share a similar sense of humor, dark and ironic.

In the city Kaeika, Dhaybitsuku the inhabitants made the largest shrine in Kek's honor. Many followers of kek make a pilgrimage to Kaeika to visit the shrine.

Bards
Bards that focus on comedy or musical performance tend to worship Kek.

Clerics
Many Clerics of Kek are battlefield clerics who turn to Kek to raise their spirits when they are surrounded by death and disease every day.

Paladins
Paladins of Kek are rare outside of Dhaybitsuku. A paladin of Kek outside of Dhaybitsuku is probably an immigrant or is on a pilgrimage.
